Alton Richards is stuck as the cardturner for his rich, *bridge-playing, blind Uncle Lester. His mother is insistent that he stay on his uncle's good side because she wants to make sure she gets some of Uncle Lester's money instead of the "crazy" Castaneda family, but in the meantime, Alton discovers that bridge isn't that bad.
Then he meets Toni Castaneda, a girl his mother has told him is crazy. As he seems to be falling for her, Alton's mother and father become more insistent that he talk to his uncle about his will. But Alton finds that bridge is much more fun and interesting than he ever thought.
*Side note: I must say I have never been so glad to see a whale in my life!

We enjoyed this one. It's very different from the "usual" teen fare, and the parents are unfortunately one-dimensional/not believable, but the rest of the story was fun and well-written. And we liked learning about bridge!
